Cowichan Consort Orchestra and Choir presents Mozart’s 1789 arrangement of Handel’s magnificent Messiah. Start your Christmas Season off with hearing this beautiful oratorio by Handel with the famous Hallelujah Chorus.
The Mozart arrangement includes wind parts for the orchestra which is a bonus for the Consort, so many more get to play.
Noted Canadian Bass Gary Relyea will sing, along with Ted Rhodes tenor, Anne Relyea mezzo-soprano, and Andrea Rodall soprano.
Cowichan audiences have a chance to hear two of the valley’s busiest soloists, Ted and Andrea, singing in this concert. Andrea has a tall list of previous works performed and Ted is forever in demand as a tenor soloist. We are pleased to welcome back Gary and Anne who will sing a sixth time with the Consort. Members of Malaspina Choir from Nanaimo will join forces with the Consort Choir. Directed by Lionel Tanod, they will sing again here, after the amazing Verdi Requiem concerts both choirs did together last May with the Consort Orchestra accompanying.
Conductor Erica Phare-Bergh will grace our podium with her guest conducting. Recently moved to Colwood, she has an impressive resume and we are lucky to have engaged her to conduct.
Tickets are available at Volume One Book Store on Kenneth St and from members. Adults $20 and Students under 18 -$10. Dec 1st, Saturday 7:30 pm at the Chr. Reformed Church on 930 Trunk Road Duncan. Any leftover tickets will be sold at the door.
